There’s a lot to love about Texas Sage (also known as Texas Ranger). This evergreen shrub shows off lovely silvery-green leaves that pair well with practically every other plant. It shows off spikes of lavender-purple flowers in Summer and autumn. Once established, it’s incredibly drought tolerant and it holds up to Summer heat and humidity.
- Can reach about 8 ft. tall and wide
- Blooms in spring and Summer
- Grows best in full Sun (at least 6-hours of direct Sun per day) or part Sun (morning shade with afternoon sun)
- Drought tolerant once established but benefits from regular watering
- Note: plant may have some natural degree of toxicity and may cause discomfort or illness if ingested additionally, exposure to the sap of plant may cause discomfort to individuals with a sensitivity to it upon contact, grown for ornamental purposes and not intended for human or animal consumption
- Typically deer- and rabbit-resistant, but individual animals may eat it
- Excellent in landscape beds, borders or in mass plantings and can also be used as a hedge or foundation plant
- Zones 9 to 11, but can be grown anywhere as a landscape annual or in container gardens
